When I started becoming vegan, I didn’t think that I would be able to eat fish and chips anymore.
I was wrong.
I will admit that I was hesitant to try the vegan fish, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it mimicked real fish.
Ingredients for Vegan Fish and Chips:
1 box of Sophie’s Kitchen Breaded Vegan Fish Fillets
1 bag Alexia French Fries
For the vegan tartar sauce:
1/3 cup Veganaise
2 tsp. sweet relish
1 tsp. yellow mustard
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
black pepper to taste
(tartar sauce recipe courtesy of Peta.org: Vegan Tartar Sauce)
1. Mix together Veganaise, relish, mustard, lemon juice and black pepper in a bowl and set aside.
2. Cook the vegan fish fillets and french fries according to the box directions.
3. Enjoy a meatless fish and chips dinner!
When eating healthy it is best to avoid fried foods, but for those of you who want an alternative to real fish, conventional French fries, or tartar sauce with added ingredients like HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) or coloring’s, this is the way to go.
An added bonus of these vegan fish fillets is that they are not real seafood, therefore you know that you are not affecting the environment or supporting farmed fisheries.
Also, this dish is easy to prepare for a quick weekday meal.
Sophie’s Kitchen also sells Breaded Vegan Fish’less’ Sticks, Breaded Vegan Calamari, Vegan Breaded and Un-Breaded Shrimp, Vegan Crab Cake, Vegan Prawns, Vegan Scallops and Vegan Toona.
Eating right never tasted so good!
